Concrete Polishing in Tijuana: What to Expect from a Polished Floor

Mechanical polishing is not a coating
Polishing closes the concrete's own pore with progressive grits; a coating adds a layer on top. The layer scratches, delaminates and has to be replaced; polishing is maintained with cleaning and an occasional re-pass.
Aggregate exposure levels
The floor can be left with cream exposure — no visible aggregate — with fine aggregate or with full aggregate. The decision is made before starting, because it depends on how much is ground off, and it cannot be reversed.
What maintenance it needs
Cleaning with water and a pH-neutral cleaner. No acids and no wax: acid attacks the concrete and wax defeats the purpose of polishing.
When polishing is the wrong call
When the slab is heavily cracked, deeply oil-contaminated, or when the aggregate is poor quality and will be on show. In those cases grinding plus a coating is the better answer.
