Chemical Anchoring in Concrete and Masonry

Injected or capsule resin for fixings where a mechanical anchor does not fit or does not reach.

Chemical anchoring is the answer when the fixing sits near an edge, when anchor spacing is tight, or when the substrate is hollow and an expansion anchor would simply burst the material. The resin fills the hole, keys mechanically into the pore roughness and transfers load by bond along the full embedded length.

GPC Construcciones installs chemical anchors in concrete, hollow block, brick and masonry, with capsule or injection systems as the case requires. In hollow substrates a sleeve is used so the resin forms the key without disappearing into the cell.

What this service includes

No expansion stress

It does not push against the hole wall, so you can anchor near edges and at tight spacings.

Hollow substrates

With a sleeve you can anchor in block and brick without losing the resin inside the cell.

Capsule or injection

Capsules for fast point fixings; injection for volume, depth and deformed bar.

Verification

Resin batch, diameter, depth and cure time are recorded for each anchor when the project requires it.

Typical applications

  • Fixings close to the element edge
  • Anchoring in hollow block and masonry
  • Supports for services and ductwork
  • Anchoring light and medium equipment
  • Fixing façade profiles and elements
  • Signage and auxiliary structure fixings
  • Strengthening of existing connections
  • Anchors at reduced spacing

Questions about chemical anchoring

Epoxy is one type of chemical anchor. There are also vinylester and polyester resins, which cure faster but tolerate less temperature and sustained load.

Yes, with a sleeve. Without one the resin escapes into the cell and the anchor is left unsupported.

There are resins for damp and even flooded holes, but they must be specified on purpose. Not every resin tolerates moisture.
